‘Searching for Jazzman’, planned and produced by the Jarasum Jazz Festival, is a national incubating project in Korea’s jazz scene aimed at discovering and supporting emerging jazz artists under the age of 29.
In 2025, Searching for Jazzman Season 3 will be held under the theme "Beyond Boundaries", offering selected participants opportunities to perform in three Korean cities—Seoul, Sejong, and Gunsan—as well as at the Jarasum Jazz Festival and Jazzfest Budapest.
Through an open call, eight teams in the performance category and two individuals in the planning category will be selected to participate in a nationwide tour. Among these, four teams will be chosen as the BEST4, earning the opportunity to perform at the 22nd Jarasum Jazz Festival. One outstanding team will be selected for an international collaboration with Jazzfest Budapest, providing them with the chance to present their music on a global stage.
In 2024, Searching for Jazzman Season 2, titled "My First National Tour", aimed to support young artists by offering them diverse performance opportunities across the country. The tour was conducted in partnership with four regional organizations, enabling ten selected teams to encounter a variety of audiences and gain valuable experience as they developed into professional musicians.
In 2023, Searching for Jazzman Season 1 launched with the Rising Festival, which selected and supported twelve performance teams and three artists in the album production category. Additionally, four aspiring festival planners were chosen to receive hands-on experience and training in festival operations and production.
